First Takes #4 was one of the first pieces that I wrote using an autolooper. I composed six First Takes, all lasting under 30 seconds as an exploration into the different ways I could use an autolooper. The main motive of the piece is a repeated "Mi, re, do" in eighth notes. The autolooper allows me to trigger that theme in different ways, playing shorter segments of it or repeating it after different iterations of it.
The piece received an "Extension" in 2020, further exploring the piece. The work was the second piece in the 2021 version of my live show, "Brian KM Live!", seen below at the O'ahu FRINGE Festival.
